Controller

We are currently looking for an experienced, self-motivated and efficient Controller for our property located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This is a management position with the responsibility and accountability of all aspects of the day to day operations of the Accounting Department and the financially related activities of the hotel.

Reporting to the General Manager and the Management Company, the successful candidate must have an excellent work ethic, be able to effectively meet time lines, have good multi-tasking skills, along with excellent communication and leadership skills.

Candidates must be able to lead, direct and motivate the accounting team efficiently and according to the hotel standards, and must be proactive, able to meet deadlines and possess excellent communication skills.

Job Responsibilities

To manage and lead the accounting department; produce timely, accurate monthly, quarterly and year-end financial statements; prepare budget, financial analysis and management reports as well as create the annual operating and capital budget, strategic planning and short-term forecasts; prepare detailed year end working paper files for audit or review purposes; support employee growth and development; be an interdepartmental team player, who will demonstrate strong organizational, interpersonal and communication skills; control costs by adhering to standards of operations for forecasting, budgeting, scheduling, payroll control, and other expense management systems; develop, maintain and review internal controls, accounting policies and procedures; lead, guide and develop an engaged, enthusiastic, and service driven team through recruitment, personal and professional development and reward; assist employees to deliver exceptional services to both our internal and external customers.

Job Requirements

Professional accounting designation or equivalent experience preferred, i.e. CGA, CMA, or presently working towards; proven leadership skills; highly organized individual with good operational knowledge; exceptional computer skills, including utilization and integration of the hotel’s accounting technology system, including current and future software applications.
